Which station to start with

Five stations, different expectations: choose a direction before opening the player.

The Eesti Raadio portal brings together ERR’s five main stations. This is a useful starting point: Estonian radio need not be treated as one music playlist. First decide what you want right now: to follow a conversation, encounter an unfamiliar song or spend time with instrumental music.

Read a station’s description and open its official player. Give the programme some time: a single song or short conversation cannot describe the whole station. Notice the transition into the next segment. Sometimes the relationship between music and speech tells you whether you want to stay.

Kallas is a map for making that choice. Listening takes place on the ERR website, where you can check the programme and look for a particular item. Keep the station’s name if you want to return. Next time, try a neighbouring format: a different starting point can be more useful than searching endlessly for a perfect channel.
